Nog twee dagen... Two days left...

Hoi allemaal!

Buiten regent het verschrikkelijk en ik hoorde het zelfs ver weg rommelen! Het perfecte weer om hier nog even wat te schrijven, alhoewel ik natuurlijk hoop dat het weer zo wat beter wordt! Nog maar twee dagen te gaan en dan vertrek ik naar Chili, eindelijk! De laatste paar weken zijn ontzettend snel voorbijgegaan, maar ik had dan ook veel gepland en voorbereidingen vergen ook veel tijd!

Vorige week dinsdag ging ik met mijn vriendin Xenia naar een concert van Juanes in de Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam! De helft van de zaal was gevuld met Spaanstalige mensen, dus het is goed gelukt om al in de Zuid Amerika stemming te komen! We hebben een geweldige avond gehad, het was echt fantastisch!! :D Woensdag nog een dagje Amsterdam erachter aan gedaan en we hebben ons goed vermaakt daar, hè Xenia?! We staan zelfs met Brad Pitt en Angelina Jolie op de foto! (ja precies, Madame Tussauds dus) ;)

Afgelopen zondag ben ik met Doris op expeditie naar Rosmalen geweest! Ik had kaartjes voor de Ordina Open én ik had een wedstrijd gewonnen van het blad Tennis Magazine (ik was nog maar een maandje lid!)! Ik mocht op die dag een prof tennisser interviewen en ik kreeg VIP kaartjes! Het was nog even spannend wie dat dan zou worden, want het hing allemaal af van wie er tussen de trainingen door beschikbaar was. Uiteindelijk kreeg ik te horen dat ik Sorana Cirstea uit Roemenië mocht interviewen. Voel je niet schuldig als je niet weet wie ze is, want dat wisten de redacteurs en ik ook niet, haha. We hebben zelfs het boekje met alle prof tennissers moeten doorspitten om even wat over haar te lezen. Wat bleek, ze is maar 3 dagen jonger dan ik! Heel leuk om er dan via zo'n interview achter te komen hoe onze levens verschillen én gelijk zijn in bepaalde opzichten. Tijdens de lange reis naar de Ordina Open (met de trein van E'de naar Den Bosch is zo'n 2 uur, maar de bussen staakten, dus weer met de trein van Den Bosch naar Rosmalen, treintaxi nemen... zucht) hebben we een heel lijstje met vragen verzonnen en de redacteuren vonden de vragen super, dus er hoefde niks meer gedaan te worden! Het interview zelf was ontzettend leuk om te doen! Op de website van tennis magazine staat een kort filmpje en het interview wordt ook gepubliceerd in het volgende blad! In ieder geval hebben we een hele drukke, maar super leuke dag gehad daar. We hebben vooral veel rondgehangen bij de trainingsbanen, aangezien onze favorieten daar liepen en Ferrer en Ancic de enige favorieten van ons waren die dag moesten spelen.

Maar ik dwaal af! Terug naar Chili. Aanstaande zaterdag vertrekt mijn vliegtuig om 19.40 naar Zürich om vanaf daar vervolgens om 22.40 naar Santiago te vertrekken. Van Zürich naar Santiago is het zo'n 17 uur vliegen en ik kom dan ook op zondagochtend 10 uur Chileense tijd (het is in Nederland 6 uur later dan in Chili) in Santiago aan. Helaas kan ik zaterdag dan niet de wedstrijd van Nederland zien, maar ik weet wel zeker dat ik de uitslag in Zwitserland te horen krijg!

Tijdens mijn verblijf in Chili kunnen jullie me natuurlijk ook gewoon mailen. Sms'en heeft geen zin: het kost je een fortuin en het komt niet aan bij mij. Ze hebben in Zuid Amerika een ander netwerk, waardoor sms'en van hier naar daar niet mogelijk is.

Op het moment is het zo'n 14C in Chili met veel regen, het belooft wat zonniger te worden wanneer ik kom. Ik heb onder "links" aan de rechterkant twee links naar de website van de BBC geplaatst, waar je dan de weersvoorspelling voor Santiago en Iquique kunt bekijken!

Morgenavond krijgen we ons diploma en dan zijn we eindelijk klaar met de middelbare school! Ik hoop dat jullie allemaal een heel leuke vakantie hebben en tot schrijfs!

Hi everybody!

It's raining cats and dogs, so it's the perfect time to write another message here! Only two days left and then I'll be on the plane to Chile, finally! Time is really flying. The last couple of weeks went by so fast. I have been really busy, not only with the preparations, but I've also been doing some fun things!

On June the 10th I went to the concert of Juanes in Amsterdam together with my friend Xenia! There were lots of Spanish speaking people, so it was a good way to get into a "Latin American mood"! We had a wonderful evening, it really was a fantastic experience!! The Wednesday after that we stayed in Amsterdam and visited some tourist places! We even got a pic with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (yes, we went to Madame Tussauds, the museum of wax statues!) :D

Last Sunday I went to 's Hertogenbosch (Holland) with my sister Doris! I had tickets for the Ordina Open and I had won a competition of the Dutch Tennis Magazine! I had to interview a professional tennis player plus I got VIP tickets!! I had no idea who I was going to interview, because it depended on who was available that day. It turned out to be Sorana Cirstea from Romania. Don't be ashamed if you've never heard of her before, the editors and I hadn't either, haha! We got a book with all the WTA and ATP players in it to read a bit about her. I found out Sorana is only 3 days younger than me! What a coincidence. It was really nice to compare our lives, since they're so different, but also equal in some ways. During the long trip from Enschede to the Ordina Open (it's about 2 hours by train to 's Hertogenbosch, but when we arrived there, the bus drivers turned out to be on strike, so we had to get another train to Rosmalen and a taxi from there.. ), we had enough time to think of some good questions and by the time we arrived at the tournament, I had enough questions to keep talking to her for an hour! The editors thought the questions were perfect, so we didn't have to worry about that anymore. The interview itself was amazing and it was a really special experience. I was really nervous, but all went well! The interview will be published in the next issue of the tennis magazine and there's a short video about it on the internet! All in all, we had a great day. The only matches we were interested in were the ones of Ferrer and Ancic, so we just went to the Center Court for those two and we spent the rest of the time at the training courts, where our favourite players of the tournament were practising (Ferrer, Andreev, Santoro, Ljubicic, Del Potro, Cañas, Chakvetadze, Safina, etc. ). I also met Déborah at the tournament (DeborahDB at RF.com!), which was great, because we hadn't seen each other in "real life" before! She is a lovely girl!

But, let's go back to the real subject: Chile! My plane to Zürich (Switzerland) leaves this Saturday at 7.40 PM and I will leave for Santiago at 10.40 PM later that evening. The flight takes about 17 hours. I will arrive in Santiago at 10 AM Sunday morning, which is 4 PM in Holland (it's 6 hours earlier in Chile). Unfortunately, I won't be able to see the Dutch soccer team play, but I'm sure I will hear the result of that match when I'm in Switzerland! Go Holland! ;)

During my stay in Chile, you can always write me an e-mail, but please don't try to send me a text message (SMS). It will cost you a fortune, but it won't arrive, since South America has a different network. 

At the moment it's about 14 C in Santiago, but it will hopefully get a little better by the time I arrive there. On the right of this page, I created two links to the website of the BBC. You can see the weather forecast for Santiago and Iquique there!
